Silence
When he hurts her she doesn't show it and she gives him the excuse of not knowing that she was hurt. She prefers to share part of the responsibility by hiding her pain deep inside. Like a mother protecting her sleeping child from the faintest sounds, she protects their love with her own silence.

She's not smart at all! Maybe she's a good soul and thinks she does what's best for them. But this is wrong!
I agree with you ya Mayo .. but I don't think it's about being smart here.. most women would do that for many fears of losing the person or the relation.. and because men won't get it or feel them anyway :)
But I do agree. Ppl grow apart with each word that remains unsaid.
